POOL EQUIPMENT TOOLSEquipment sizing made clearer
Pool circulation
& filtration calculator
Turn customer pool dimensions into preliminary sizing references for circulation and filtration equipment.
Project inputs
Define your pool
6 h turnover 25 m/h filtration rate
Applied automatically for hotel & club pool. Adjust when local requirements or product data call for a different value.Filter assumptionsSand / glass media
This calculator uses a media-filter loading rate. Cartridge and D.E. filters require model-specific flow and surface-area data, so confirm those options against the manufacturer's product information.
For irregular pools, enter the customer's estimated water surface and average depth. All results are preliminary equipment-sizing references.

Indicative geometry for equipment-sizing reference only—not an engineering or construction drawing.
Transparent by design
From dimensions to a practical starting point.
The calculator keeps its inputs clear, helping customers describe their pool before asking Bilanda for suitable equipment guidance.
Pool volume
Length × width × mean end depth

Pool volume ÷ turnover period
Filter area
Design flow ÷ filtration rate
Planning band
Design flow with 5–15% flow margin
Direct sizing answers
How do I size circulation and filtration for my pool?
These plain-language rules explain the same calculations used above, so customers and search assistants can verify every result.
How do I calculate swimming-pool volume?
For a rectangular pool, multiply length × width × average water depth. For a sloped pool, use the shallow section, transition and deep section separately. Circular volume uses π × radius² × depth; oval volume uses π × half-length × half-width × depth.
What circulation flow does my pool need?
Required circulation flow in m³/h equals pool volume in m³ ÷ turnover period in hours. A 250 m³ pool with a 4-hour turnover therefore requires 62.5 m³/h before any planning allowance.
How much filter area is required?
Required filter area in m² equals circulation flow in m³/h ÷ filtration rate in m/h. Lower filtration rates require more filter area and normally provide more conservative filtration.
How many Bilanda sand filters are suitable?
First calculate the flow here, then open the Bilanda selector. It adds the chosen reserve, checks operating rate, catalogue flow and connection capacity, and compares identical filters installed in parallel.
