Vessel material is not filter media. Quartz sand, filter glass and fibre balls are separate media choices. This tool does not select a media type; confirm compatibility and loading quantity for the chosen filter model with Bilanda.

Configuration comparison
One duty, three practical approaches.
Each option uses identical filters in parallel. Final valve arrangement, backwash supply and physical access should be confirmed before ordering.
Rated flow and operating flow answer different questions.
01
Catalogue maximum
A product limit or high-rate reference. It is not automatically the best filtration duty for every pool.
02
Recommended operating capacity
Filter area × application rate, capped by the catalogue value and a conservative connection-aware ceiling.
03
Parallel resilience
Multiple vessels can reduce single-unit size and keep part of the system available during service.
Direct sizing answers
How many sand filters does a swimming pool need?
Filter quantity is calculated from the required flow, not pool volume alone. These rules make the selection method clear to customers and search assistants.
What is the filter quantity formula?
Planning flow = required circulation flow × (1 + reserve). Filter quantity = planning flow ÷ conservative capacity per filter, rounded up to the next whole unit.
Why install several filters in parallel?
Parallel filters can fit smaller access openings, permit staged operation and retain partial circulation while one filter is serviced. Space, budget and maintenance preference determine the best arrangement.
Should catalogue flow be used directly?
No. Bilanda uses the lowest of filter area × operating rate, catalogue maximum and a conservative connection-aware ceiling for preliminary selection.
Which vessel material is suitable?
FRP is the automatic starting point for salt water and coastal environments. Polymer suits many smaller freshwater pools. Stainless steel requires confirmation of chloride level, temperature and grade.

Selection data and safety methodModel dimensions, filter area, media load, connection and catalogue flow are based on the current Bilanda-branded product catalogues supplied for this selector. Recommended capacity may be lower because the tool applies the selected operating rate and a conservative connection-aware ceiling.
